Only been refreshing every half hour or something...

Downloaded it. Haven’t played any but I’m excited.

HUZZAH!!!!!!!!! IT’S IN THE GOOGLE PLAY STORE TOO!!!!!!

I was, um, gifted with a link to it this afternoon. I’ve been trying to get it going since, but it keeps telling me it has server issues.

It's because it's the AU/NZ servers. Everyone jumped on board that on. I'd imagine the us one is on a different server.

Same here. It's 9:45pm and almost bedtime for me. I'll be catching them tomorrow eagerly.

Huzzah! Something something patience pays off!
![]() 07/06/2016 at 21:49 |

Yeah, I'm going to uninstall and install the US version. The loading screen gets to a certain point and just stops.

I didn’t realize that this game made you go places. My city isn’t very walking friendly.

Just got it working for me after server issues. Nothing around.
![]() 07/07/2016 at 08:01 |

As of now, the us version is online, :).

I think it depends on either wifi hotspots or cellphone hotspots. It’s something hotspots. At work I just caught 3 Pokemon.
For the pokeshops and gyms, they tend to be landmarks on google maps. So for those you do have to travel. But I found some on my commute, so I could pull into the parking lot, get the items, then leave.
![]() 07/07/2016 at 08:05 |

Sometimes there are, sometimes there aren’t. Haven’t figured out ‘why’ yet, but I am figuring it out, :).

I cracked the game back open before bed and noticed a bunch of stuff around. Took the dog out (partially for protection from coyotes) and went for a walk. No luck catching anything.
This morning I've caught 6 and found out my regular coffee shop is a gym

Turns out my device isn’t compatible.

I caught like 13+ at work. Saw an Electabuzz nearby, but had a meeting in 15 meetings. Was trying to debate if could make it, I figured I couldn’t. Lol.
No local gyms or shops near me though, :/.
![]() 07/07/2016 at 16:01 |

Wait, how?
![]() 07/07/2016 at 16:15 |

I took over a gym. I passed by several empty gyms but I wasn’t level 5 yet.
I was having a good bit of luck until server issues hit and now I got nothin again because it won't load

Good question. It says Android 4.4 or higher, and I'm running 4.4.2. But going into the Play store, it doesn't show up, even when I search for it. I Googled it, and other S3 users say it doesn't work for them either.

Same here. I got a poliwag before I got servers though. So that’s cool. I JUST reached lv 5 too.
There needs to be a way to get friends on the app.
![]() 07/07/2016 at 17:14 |
|
Yeah. Hopefully a friend's thing will happen. Trading would be cool too but would sort of defeat the purpose
![]() 07/07/2016 at 17:42 |

Weird...
![]() 07/07/2016 at 17:44 |

Eh, trading, battling, and collecting is pretty much the whole point, :). I'd love to trade with someone.
![]() 07/07/2016 at 18:27 |

Trading would diminish the point of going out and exploring.
Battling needs to happen but it may go too close to regular games’ premise and endanger profits for Nintendo and Game Freak
![]() 07/07/2016 at 18:30 |

Touché on the trading point, didn't think of that. I haven't battled yet, but I hear it's quite different.

Disappointing. Guess they don't want my money.

I’m guessing maybe the camera isn’t right? Or something else internally isn’t the correct setup.
This is one main reason I enjoy iOS. Yes, Apple is completely restrictive in its products, they are over priced, but every is held to the same standard since Apple makes every iPhone itself. Android seems like the Wild West (imho). :/

It kind of is, but the S3 was a top-of-the-line phone when it was new (~2012). Phone technology has grown by leaps and bounds since then.

This game is going to cause so many deaths. I sure hope Nintendo has some good lawyers lol. There is nothing preventing you from playing and driving, if anything it encourages it since you accomplish way more that way. Plus so many of the stops are definitely trespassing to get to. No way this doesn’t result in all kinds of legal hell for Nintendo.
![]() 07/08/2016 at 09:23 |
|
That's why you do drive by pokemon hunting. You can get the pokemon to appear on your dashboard and throw pokeballs while dodging pedestrians and such.
![]() 07/08/2016 at 09:25 |
|
You don’t have nearly enough battery charge to play! This game is going to sell a ridiculous amount of portable battery charging sticks. Nintendo has to get on that right away and monetize that!
![]() 07/08/2016 at 09:46 |
|
I’ve tried playing and driving. Only wild Pokemon can be obtained. The gyms and pokeshops require you to be slow or stationary, and you have to be practically next to it.
It’s not nintendos fault, it’s whatever Map system they are using. They use landmarks like churches, restaurants, signs, etc as the stops. I’m pretty sure they are using google maps. If anything, it’s Niantic’s fault.

Ive been pulling over to random places on the road to hit the pokestops and battle wild pokemon. It made my commute to work take a few minutes longer due to detouring around to get to all the places.

On the dash? I guess that requires a modern headunit.
![]() 07/08/2016 at 10:20 |

Lol does a broken CD player count as modern? Ive got the stock headunit in my Miata, the wind is my radio! I just use one of those CD slot mounts for my phone so that I can see directions while navigating. Seems to work well for pokemon as well.

I have a 3 disc changer. And it still works ;)
![]() 07/08/2016 at 12:03 |

I've found only one stop that works when I'm moving, just one. Lol.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and my battery lasts right until after supper, but that’s just because I use it for music and stuff all day at work. Plus, it has the quick charger, so I can recharge pretty fast. I don’t know about the battery life of other phones though, lol. I can see that being a profitable idea however. Maybe like a Pokemon themed battery pack / case that makes your phone look like a Pokedex? I would buy that in a heartbeat, even if I didn’t really need the extra battery, hahaha!

Yeah, my Sony Xperia lasts forever too with normal use. But this game eats the battery for sure. Using the GPS, camera, screen, and data seems to be a power hungry combination. I think 20,000 mAh will be enough to get me through a couple days of pokemon though still!
